In 2009, I discovered that a book titled Moi J’attends by Davide Cale and Serge Block had a unique quality: it was able to evoke in the faces of its readers many of the emotional gestures that humans express throughout their lives.
I decided to create an Emotional Gestures Archive in the form of an audiovisual mosaic. A group of people from Sueca, Lleida, Olot, Benicarló, and several towns in the interior of Castelló participated in the project.
But the project didn’t stop at merely recording their emotional gestures. The artist asked the interviewed participants what they expected and what they didn’t expect from life. Thus, by clicking on each face in the mosaic, we can hear their testimonies.
