LA FÁBRICA is a documentary research project that has its origin in the Marie Claire factory -located in the region of Els Ports, in the town of Vilafranca- to deepen in the different configurations of the economy and work in the territory. A company that represents a genealogy of the different forms of local and global economic development. Each economic development has left its mark both on the landscape of the town and the region and on its inhabitants, who have been shaped by work and the economy for over a hundred years. The ways of life of agriculture and livestock gave way to the industrialization and growth of a village from a company that was a pioneer and vanguard in the 70s and 80s. Globalization, with the intermediate step of Spain’s entry into the European common market, was undermining an anomaly, a factory of 1000 employees in the interior of the province of Castellón, which in 2023 closed its doors and whose environment has to learn to live with the new situation.
