FROM SETEMBER 13th TO DECEMBER 29TH, 2024
The Utopia exhibition seeks to disrupt, remix, rethink, and question the unifying power of music, challenging the uniformity of contemporary cities and what is currently referred to as the “crisis of imagination” (Busch 2024). Uniformity is rejected through the incorporation of the Chicks on Speed archive into a new work of art, using multiple moving image screens, multisensory experiences, and artistic events with local participation.
Iconic works by Chicks on Speed, such as Sleep Symphony, Cigar Box Synthesizers OBJEKTINSTRUMET APPS, will be revisited and updated, while other pieces from throughout the collective’s career will be brought together for the first time in this exhibition. The exhibition will host others that encapsulate two decades of artistic research and production, with special performances marking milestones in the group’s chronology, thus creating a network of performative gestures and associations with Chicks on Speed’s intervention at the EACC.
Chicks on Speed is an international collective founded by Alex Murray-Leslie and Melissa Logan with a DIY spirit and socially conscious punk philosophy.
